Note: "XPress Scripts 1.0" is a package of twelve AppleScripts for use with QuarkXPress 3.3.
I recommend that you obtain "XPress Scripts 1.0" before going much further. You should be able to find "XPress Scripts 1.0" from wherever you found this. (Any problems, contact me at the above Email address and I will send them on).
This package is 'commentware', as opposed to freeware or shareware.
Your comments and suggestions will be greatly appreciated and will encourage me to make more QuarkXPress scripts.
System Setup: Refer to the Read me file in XPress Scripts 1.0
Special note for installation: This set comes with an addition called "DialogRunner", put this in the Scripting Additions folder within the Extensions folder. Put the file "XPressScriptsDLOG" in the Scripting Additions folder also. This file contains the dialog resources for three of the scripts here. Note: The other Addition provided here is called "ResMover". Just ignore this. I included this as part of the "ResMover and DialogRunner" set as per the authors request.
XPress Scripts 1.5 includes the following updates and new scripts:
Set Guides II Updated scripts which allows several options: Calculations can be made from the edit text dialog, i.e. "5pt + 10mm". Scale guides can set the view scale as to what view size you want the guide viewed at. i.e. if it is set to 100%, then the guide will only be seen at 100% or over. Lock Guides and Undeletable...Self explanatory. See special note above for installation.
Multi Guides Set all your guides for a page from one dialog box. Includes an option to lock guides. See special note above for installation.
Lock/Unlock Guides II Lock/Unlock guides with options of undeletable or deleteable. Any consequent guides drawn after Lock Guides is implemented will be unlocked. (Intentional improvement) Note that the Lock/Unlock guides from XPress Scripts 1.0 is no longer compatible with Lock/Unlock II, this script will not unlock guides locked with Lock/Unlock Guides version 1.0. See special note above for installation.
Delete Guides II Update deletes guides in a document without the hassle of a dialog box.
Item Guides II Update draws guides around a box without the hassle of a dialog box.
Change Box II Update changes polygon shaped boxes, and also keeps the box in its original layer.
Delete Empty Boxes Allows cleaning up by deleting all boxes in a document which are empty and transparent.
Set TIFF/Pict boxes to 0% Black Sets all picture boxes in a document containing a TIFF or pict file to 0% Black as so to avoid the printing problem associated with imagesetters, tiff/picts, and "None" colored picture boxes.
Set Trap Defaults Set all trap value to user specified setting, and set traps of all objects to default.
Guides Load/Save (Two scripts:) Guides Save: Save sets of guides from document pages to a text file for later loading into another document. Guides Load: Load a file created by 'Guides Save' to load guides into a new document page.
Box Style Apply/Copy (Two scripts:) Copy the attributes of a selected box (color, shade, border width, border frame, trapping, etc) and apply these attributes to one or more other boxes, rather like applying a color-style sheet to boxes. This works best with a Quickey attached, i.e. I have Control-C to copy the attributes and Control-V to apply the attributes. The ScriptIt Xtension also does the job effectively.
